Women's Riding-The Liberation of Women
For centuries, women were treated as as frail, incompetent creatures incapable of doing anything for themselves. Horses were considered a man's sport and hobby, and the thought of a woman on horseback was unthinkable. When women gained their freedom in horses, it was a turning point for the beginning of the long fight for women's liberation. My thesis is that when it became socially acceptable for a woman to ride a horse, this was the first step in women's liberation.
